Every year, the time has come around again – no sooner have the last delicious biscuits been devoured than the most joyful evening of the year is upon us: New Year's Eve in Munich.

Just in time for the end of the year, we would like to recommend the best places to enjoy the best and most sociable or even cosy and undisturbed view of the fireworks over Munich in our blog post. In the city centre, near hospitals, children's and old people's homes, churches and fire-hazard buildings, fireworks and firecrackers are banned again this year. Outside the banned areas, however, there will be plenty of private fireworks to admire in the skies over Munich.

New Year's Eve spots in Munich – in the middle of the hustle and bustle

Do you prefer to celebrate the New Year’s Eve in Munich with as many people as possible? You can enjoy the fireworks in the middle of the hustle and bustle at these locations in Munich:

1. Marienplatz – New Year's Eve in the heart of Munich

The Marienplatz in Munich is still the heart of the fireworks- and party-lovers who want to celebrate in central Munich’s old town. For years, Munich's Marienplatz has been the hot spot for partygoers looking to celebrate in the heart of Munich's old town. Although there won't be a big central fireworks display this year, people will still be celebrating into the New Year. Fireworks and firecrackers are banned in the city centre - but you can still safely watch the many rockets in the sky around midnight.

The Friedensengel is, of course, an excellent photo opportunity against the backdrop of the fireworks. Apart from local residents tourists from all over the world come here to enjoy the beginning of the new year together.

1. Monopteros – the most idyllic place

The Monopteros in the English Garden in Munich is probably one of the most idyllic public places to enjoy the fireworks in a cozy and romantic atmosphere. Away from the bustle of the inner city, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the old city. Moreover, you will also see the professional fireworks of the famous club P1 in some distance.
